If people yell at home, they also do it in the street; if a son disrespects his father, it is impossible for him to have any consideration for anyone outside the home; that is why many behave everywhere as if they were the «hub of the universe», and the worst thing, in most cases they do not know how to speak.

My fellow citizens in the Versalles neighborhood in Santiago de Cuba often comment on the increasing social indiscipline everywhere; but, worst of all, who is calling for order in the ATM line? Is there any call in the community, from the Zone Party organization, the CDR or the FMC? Actually, NOT in many places.

Social indiscipline swarm. People even celebrate because the baby managed to utter a sound similar to a swear word. Even, in the constituency meetings there are plenty of complaints about bad service or lack of resources, but little is said and acted on social indiscipline.

Social Networks, a New Environment of Aggression Against Cuba

And there is no conversation, there is argument and offense. It is difficult for young people to do anything different in the street, in a discotheque or at school. In society all these distortions are carried out, creating chaos and what is worse, impunity, ethical and moral values are flagellated in the same dimension.

«In my opinion, the common denominator of all this phenomenon has been and is the lack of demand from those in charge of enforcing what is established, the absence of constancy in the work at the different levels of management and the disrespect, first of all, by the state entities of the institutionalism in force, which, on the other hand, undermines their capacity and authority to demand that the population abide by the existing regulations», said Raul when closing the First Ordinary Period of Sessions of the 8th Legislature of the National Assembly of People’s Power, on July 7, 2013.

Social Networks, a New Environment of Aggression Against Cuba

By: Santiago Romero. Cuba made the headlines, as it usually happens around this date, traditionally since 1992, but the blockade not only continues, it even becomes more aggressive through the social networks, mainly Facebook, Instagram and X.

Social Indiscipline

Time goes by and social indiscipline becomes such an everyday phenomenon that it becomes normal, that’s why my neighbor yells, a woman seems to break the cell phone in «conversation» with the husband. It is worse is in social networks where they insult you for being Cuban and staying in the country; and at the bus stop, when the transportation arrives, all manners are gone no matter your title or educational level, and even the collector offends those who ask him to turn down the volume of the player, with regueton music which sets the sky on fire, kills poetry, the metaphor, incinerates the sublime and burns dignity. Then there are those who barely know how to write their name, but have enough money to believe they have the right to transgress.

Gender violence, the impoverishment of morals and ethics, barbarism against civilization, people read less, patterns against civic education emerge and are accentuated, the family crumbles and suddenly a «scholar» says: «these are passing symptoms that change or disappear with time». I don’t think there is lack of legal documents, or disciplinary regulations. The media have to be credible in their educational messages and community projects cannot be indifferent to social indiscipline, neither can the community factors and the new base structures in these times.
